I REMEMBER THE WORD
Romans 4:20-21
20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God,
21 And being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.
When I was young, and somebody died, I could not sleep, or be left alone in a room, dark or light. One day, my Grandma said to me, "Omo, if you hear any sound, or see any movement, dark or light, it's a living being. The dead don't move nor talk." And over the years, any time I felt like fear, and I remembered that word, I get bold and confident. But sometimes I would forget, and fall back into fear. I guess the enemy knows the moment you forget what God says, he can zoom in to deceive you.
But one of the most powerful ways to win victory, and win big, is to remember what God said about you and about your situations. When you remember what God says, and you apply it by faith, all of heavens sit up straight and notice, not only your presence, but your authority.
Yes, you pray, but only to recount your problems, not to recollect God’s promises. You cry, “God, I can’t take this no more. God, where were you when this happened to me? God, how can I ever get out of this? God, my enemies are too terrible."
You don’t have to tell God to see your problems. You can get more discouraged like that. He knows what you are going through, and He already said something about it. You only need to remember what He said about your situation, and apply it by faith, and you will change your attitude from a victim to a victor.
Do not waste your prayer energy fighting a battle that is already over. Rather, call to mind what God says. When the enemy comes charging like a flood, remember God said, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. When people turn against you and accuse you, or abuse you, remember God said He will fight your battles. He will turn what is meant for your harm into your advantage. When the Medical Report is bad, and you are tempted to say, “I don’t see how I can ever get well,” instead of calling to mind what your situation looks like, remember His promises to heal you. "God, You said it shall be well with me. You said I will live, and not die.” Remember. Isaiah 59:19; Psalm 118:17.
God's Word in your mind and out of your mouth is alive and powerful. You don't have to cry or complain. You don't have to curse either. Call to mind what God said. And He will set the angels in motion, and cause to happen what you believe for. And what you see in your mind, you will see it come to pass in your real life. And all you will remember any time after is God has saved you, blessed you, vindicated you, and lifted you up.
The reason why what the enemy is saying to you matters is because you do not remember what God says. The devil challenged Jesus Christ to a duel in the wilderness. Satan was quoting what he said God said. But as usual, he never got it right, because there is no truth in him. But Jesus remembered the real truth, and presented it, as written. The devil had no choice but to surrender. Luke 4:1-13.
When the enemy comes at you with his lies, telling you that you can never come out of this; you are never going to make it; you are never going to get well. You don’t have to get in the ring with him. If you do, he is going to knock you down. You only need to call to memory what God says about your success, about your freedom, your healing and perfect health.
And God will not let His Word fall to the ground. He would do everything possible to make His Promise come to pass. He cannot lie. He cannot go against His Word. And all power belongs to Him. If you won’t forget His Word, you will find all His promises are Yes and Amen. 2 Corinthians 1:20.
It’s going to be difficult to drop your face to the ground and be discouraged as long as His Word is alive in your mind. When you are struggling, and you seem to be losing the game, remember He said, He will make your cup run over. He said whatever you touch shall be blessed. He said He will supply all your needs. He said He will prosper you even in a desert. When you remember God’s Word, you will release your faith. And marvelous things will take place in your life. Psalm 1:3.
You may have children that are misbehaving. Don’t go to God complaining. Don’t give up on them either. Remember God said, “As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord. My children are born not for sorrow. My children will be mighty in the land.” Joshua 24:15; Isaiah 65:23; Psalm 112:2.
In 1997 when I got saved, my first son was 16 at the time. When I told him, he said, “I am happy for you, Dad. But you got to remember, I am a Muslim.” He was not wrong. We came from a Muslim background, and the boy went to Islamic school. I did not argue with him. I did not force him to come to church or not go to the mosque. I never did. Instead, I remembered the Bible says when I get saved, it shall be with my household. I simply stood on that Word, with faith in my heart that God would perform His Word. And God did. Today, my son is a world-class evangelist. Acts 16:31.
Maybe it is your marriage that’s falling apart. Instead of getting sour attitude and falling into pieces too, you can turn it around by recalling what God said, that He will give you beauty for ashes. Your end shall be better than your beginning. All things are going to work together for your good. He said it is not good to be alone. Romans 8:28.
Some of you today, you know the Word. You heard it. You read it. But when you come face to face with a tough challenge, you forget. Jesus said when the Holy Spirit comes, He shall remind us of what the Lord has said. Jesus knew that in most cases, it is not the situation that is so bad. It is the fact that you forget what you know. He knows that the very moment you forget the Word is the moment of defeat. He knows what makes for victory in bad time is not how much you were instructed. It is how much you remember at the point of action that determines who wins. John 14:26.
Jesus says until now, you have asked for nothing. That is because you don't call to mind what He said He would do for you. Instead of describing your situation or reporting your enemies, remember His Word, and ask Him to do it. You don’t have to beg. You don’t have to cry. You just don’t forget His Word. Then, ask for it, and you shall receive what you ask. And your joy shall be full. John 16:24.
I have a friend who and his wife had no baby in their marriage of 11 years. The wife is a Sunday school teacher. They came to me in 2012 for prayer. I simply turned to the wife, and asked her to tell me two words that God said about making babies. She said, “I would be fruitful and multiply. The Lord will make me a happy mother of children.” I said, “Go, and stand on those words." And today, God has blessed them with two beautiful children, a boy and a girl.
The good news is Jesus Christ is our Advocate. He is merciful and faithful. He stands in heaven to defend your case. When you remember any of His promises, you have given Him a case to present in heaven. But my question is, “Do you remember His promises? Before you start crying that you do not have; before you let fear grip your soul; or before you start thinking you are left out, do you remember what God says to you?" Remember His Word to you, and give the Lord something to work with before His Father.
Most times, what you remember is what that voice is telling you, that you never going to rise higher, or you never going to break through. But I dare you to remember what God says, that you will not fail; that you shall go from strength to strength; that the future of the righteous is brighter and brighter. When the Word of God comes alive in your mind, it cancels out all devil said, or they said. Psalm 37:37.
Nothing gives confidence and assurance like recalling the Word. How can you remember He says, "No weapon cast against you shall prosper," and still worry about what the enemy might be doing? How can you remember He says, “He is the present Help in time of trouble,” and still think you are not going to come out of this? How can you remember He says, “The horn of the righteous shall be exalted,” and still be put to shame? When you remember His Word and you go to Him with His Word, you got the power and the authority to claim your victory. Isaiah 54:17; Psalm 46:1; 75:10.
Sometimes we get into situations where you cannot see how anything is going to happen in your favor. But there are no circumstances that God has not made the way out in His Word. And the Word is close to you. If you are smart enough to remember it, and you are bold enough to believe it, God is faithful and powerful enough to turn things around in your favor. 1 Corinthians 10:13; Romans 10:8-10.
It might look impossible. But remember, with God, it’s all possible. Abraham was tempted many times to give up on God’s promises to make him father of nations. But any time the wind of discouragement blew over his mind, he would remember the promises of God, then, he would be at peace. Romans 4:20-22.
Maybe you don’t know the Word. Then get down to hearing it, and study it, and meditate on it, until it becomes printed on your heart, because not even the devil is as dangerous as ignorance.
Or maybe you know the Word. And you remember the Word. But you don't believe the Word. And that's what the Devil is looking for. He does not necessarily have to destroy you. In fact, he does not have that power. He only has to distract you. And he does that by making you forget what you know God said, or simply cause you to not believe it.
Romans 10:17; Genesis 3:1-5.
Few days ago, I was to go for the hearing for a Permit to practice in Ontario as a Consultant. But the report they got about me from Montreal was bad, some tickets I did not pay. It gave me some concerns. But I remembered God says, “Every negative handwriting and contrary report against me has been wiped out by the Blood of Jesus." I went in this faith and confidence. Guess what? I came out of the 3-hour drill, singing and dancing. Colossians 2:14.
Friend, stop nagging and begging God. Stop recollecting only why you cannot get out of debt, why you cannot be successful, why you cannot get well, or why you are never going to make it. Let your mind open up to what God says about you and your situation, and begin to walk in the attitude of His promises.
And because God is faithful, because He is powerful, He will do what He says He would do. And He will cause you to rise to a height you’ve never dreamt of. He will fight your battles and put your enemies to shame. And He will cause you to have everything He has promised you to have, and take you to the places he has said He would take you, even beyond.
Hallelujah
LET'S PRAY:
Lift up your two hands and pray to the King of Kings:
The Lord will awake in you a sound mind
He will open you up to His promises
And give you the confidence to receive
He will shine His Light into your life
He shall chase away the dark night
And bring you a new dawn full of joy
I believe and declare
That your head shall be lifted up
He will take off your sackcloth
And clothe you with gladness
And your mourning shall turn into dancing
And you shall sing His praise
In glory forever
So shall it be
In Jesus mighty name.
Thank You, Father Lord
AMEN.
Do you key into His Word today?
If you do,
Then, give God a shout of victory
